Grassroots/REC Program Info- Spring 2025 (Outdoor)

Micro Academy: 

U4-U6 Boys & Girls (Born between Jan. 1, 2019-March 31, 2021. Players must turn 4 prior to the start of the season. )

Course Description: The Grassroots/Micro-Academy is for boys and girls of all skill levels. The focus for players in this age group is on playing small-sided games in a fun, social environment learning basic movement skills, directional play, elementary attacking and defensive principles of play, basic dribbling and passing skills and first touch/ball control skills. Coaches run small-sided games, 3 v 3, 4 v 4, or 5 v 5 in forty-five minute sessions in our Free Play sessions on Fridays, and our REC Jamboree sessions on Saturdays. 

Included:

  • 7 weeks Saturday Rec. Jamboree games starting 4/5*(9:00-9:45 AM)
  • 6 weeks of Friday Free Play starting 4/4*;
  • End of the season-closing ceremonies and awards;
  • Coaches with USSF Grassroots licenses or working towards Grassroots licenses; coaches have undergone criminal background checks, and Safesport certification;
  • Club TeamSnap account
  • Practice t-shirt
  • Session Dates: 
    • Friday Free Play (Friday nights 6-7:00 PM)*: 4/4, 4/11, 4/25, 5/2, 5/9, 5/16. Make-up date: 5/30. No session over FCPS spring break on 4/18.
    • Saturday REC Jamboree (Saturday mornings 9:00-9:45 AM)*: 4/5, 4/12, 4/26, 5/3, 5/10, 5/17, 5/31. Make- up date*: 6/7. No session over FCPS spring break on 4/19 or over Memorial Day weekend on 5/24.
  • Field location: Franklin MS (3300 Lees Corner Rd, Chantilly, VA 20151)
  • Cost: $155
  • Discounts:
    • 10% early bird (early bird deadline 3/15)
    • 20% Sibling discount (available for other REC/Grassroots programs only)
  • Deadline to register: 3/15 (late registration fee of $50 starts on 3/16)

Not included: Uniform Kit ($65)**; VYSA fees $10 (if not paid in the Fall 24 season), Fairfax County Field User Fees: in-county ($10.00/player); out-of-county ($50.00/player); soccer ball- $30 (players take home after the season), extra FC Dulles practice shirts ($18/ea), and player's equipment including soccer cleats (highly recommend), shin guards (required), and water bottle. 

REC Academy

U7-U9 Boys & Girls (born 2016-2018):

Course Description: The Grassroots REC Academy is for boys and girls of all skill levels. Players are introduced to the FC Dulles REC Curriculum with an emphasis dribbling, passing and receiving, and shooting/finishing skills. Basic tactical phases of attacking and defending are introduced through small-sided games in our Play-Practice-Play format. Players will meet 3x/week over seven weeks for a training session on Monday nights, a free play session on Friday nights, and an in-house competition (REC Jamboree) on Saturdays in our REC Jamboree. It is during these sessions that we begin to ID players to play on future FC Dulles competitive travel teams.

Included:

  • 7 weeks of practice (1x/week) starts 3/31 (6-7:00 PM)*;
  • 7 weeks Saturday Rec. Jamboree games starting 4/5(10:00-11:00 AM)*
  • 6 weeks of Friday Free Play starting 4/4 (6-7:00 PM)*;

**Uniform kits to be distributed at the first practice sessions. Please note: Players who purchased the royal blue FC Dulles Grassroots/REC uniform kit in a prior season are not required to purchase a new uniform kit unless needed.
